Generic Lexapro [Escitalopram] is used in the treatment and management of Major Depressive Disorder in children [above 12] and adults, as well as for adults having Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
The medicine has to be taken once daily, in the morning or evening. Take the missed Generic Lexapro 5mg, 10mg or 20mg tablet as soon as you can, but never double the dose.
Symptoms of overdose in Lexapro therapy can be caused by taking an overdose of the same medicine, or else if it is combined with certain other medications such as: other SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, anticoagulants, NSAIDs, aspirin, antihistamines [for allergies], lithium [to treat bipolar disorder], medicines for migraine, fenfluramine [anti-obesity], antipsychotics, anxiolytics, sedatives, anti-seizure medication, alcohol, tryptan/tryptophan [amino acid], or herbal products like St. John’s Wort.
Overdose symptoms may include:-
- Coma
- Irregular heartbeat
- Seizures
- Fainting
- Severe/persistent dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Nausea, even Vomiting.
Very rarely has loss of life been reported in people who overdosed only on Lexapro.
If taken concomitantly with MAOIs or Tryptan, Generic Escitalopram can lead to a condition known as Serotonin Syndrome, which in its most severe form resembles Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, both of which can have a fatal outcome with severe side-effects due to overdose such as: autonomic instability – tachycardia [rapid heartbeat], labile blood pressure [fluctuating blood pressure], or hyperthermia – elevated body temperature as in a heat stroke; changes in mental status – coma, agitation, or hallucinations; neuromuscular aberrations – ataxia, or hyper-reflexia; or gastrointestinal reactions – nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
There may be more symptoms of overdose; your doctor will be able to tell you more about the same.

Do not begin, increase, decrease, or stop the medicine on your own; do not share it with anyone else either.
